WHO WE ARE:Council for African Indigenous Churches is an independent and well organized Council for African Churches established by Africans. We exist principally in joining hands (as member-churches) in propagating the gospel of Jesus Christ to all corners of the World.
BACKGROUND:
The Council was previously known as the Pentecostal Association of Ghana and later as General Council for Pentecostal Churches was founded in September 1962. The Council
CAIC is a member of the Ghana Conference of Religions for Peace (
GCRP) which is an affiliate to the World Conference of Religions for peace (
WCRP).
CAIC has been consolidating fellowship with Pentecostal World Fellowship since 1964.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
The aims and objectives of the Council are:
- To pr0mote fellowship among Churches especially African Indigenous Churches and encourage ecumenism with other Church denominations, Christians and Religious organizations.
- To encourage the propagation of the Christian faith in the context of he African culture using African symbols that the indigenous people can understand.
- To encourage the education and training of the Clergy, lay-leaders, members of member churches in Bible and theology on social, health, economics and political issues of national interest.
- To encourage member churches to establish schools and vocational training centers to cater for educational needs of the youth in the Society.
- To undertake Christian Social Ministry to help the poor and need in our communities.
- To serve as a regulating body to guide and guard the activities of member churches to conform to sound Christian teaching and practice.
- To champion the concerns of African indigenous churches on national issues and act as their mouth-piece with the national and local governments.
STATEMENT OF FAITH:
The basis of faith of the council is the whole counsel of God as revealed in the Holy Scriptures including the following:
- The verbal and plenary inspiration of the Old and New Testaments Scriptures and Divine Authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
- The one God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that God is the Creator, Sustained and Sovereign in the World.
- The Deity and Humanity of Jesus Christ, His substitutionary Atonement Resurrection and Ascension.
- The Fall of Man and the consequent Depravity and the necessity of the New Birth.
- The oneness of the Body of Christ (i.e. Church); the spiritual unity of all believers with Christ as the Head.
- The salvation of the lost is by grace through faith in Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit, apart from works.
- The second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit, apart from works.
- The Eternal blessedness of the saved and the eternal punishment of the lost.
- The necessity for each Christian to be a witness of Christ to all people by word and deed.
- The Baptism, Gifts, Works and Fruit of the Holy Spirit.
MEMBERSHIP:
Our membership is open to all Christian Churches (not individuals) especially the African Instituted Churches.
ORGANIZATION:
The Council has a National body with Regional and District or Local branches (which are known as zones).
AFFILIATION:
The Council affiliates to other Religious bodies, Christian Organization and para Church groups with similar objectives and statement of faith within and outside Ghana, Africa and the World.
MOVEMENTS:
The Council encourages Children, Youth, Women and Men's movements in zones as well as Regional and National levels.

FINANCE:
The Council is financed through:
- Yearly or monthly subscriptions of member churches
- Registration fees
- Donations, Grants and Special levy
- Proceeds from Congress, Conventions and Seminars.
- Any other means to be decided by National Executive Committee.
